Unit Count

There are 2 ways that units are counted in Arcol:
  1. Rough → Based on the unit mix and unit size per area type. This is the count displayed when Building Functions are being shown in the metrics sidebar.
  1. Explicit → Based on the number of sketch faces assigned each area type. This is the count displayed when Area Types are being shown in the metrics sidebar.

You can toggle the metrics sidebar between showing Building Functions and Area Types by hovering on the Building section and clicking the Functions or Area Types button that appears in the top right of the section.

Unit Mix

Unit mix determines how much of each area type is in your building.
The unit mix input shows beside the Area Type name in the Area Types section of the Edit building function menu. The total for all area type percentages must equal 100% for units to be calculated correctly.

Unit Size

The unit size input is found in the Create area type and Edit area type menus.

Setting which area types show in the Units section

For explicit unit counts you may not want to count all assigned area types (for example, you likely don’t care about counts for cores and corridors).
To set which area types are counted:
  1. Hover on the Units section of the metrics sidebar and click the settings button that appears.
  1. Click on the area type names in the menu that appears to toggle them being counted or not. A white dot shows beside areas which are being counted, which in turn will display a unit count in the Units section.
