Elements in Arcol can be moved by clicking and dragging on them, but sometimes you need to move elements more accurately. The move tool allows you to move elements from one particular point to another.
Freeform moving
To move an element with the move tool:
- Click the down arrow to the right of the cursor button in the toolbar and select
Move
from the dropdown. Alternatively you can use shortcutM
- If you do not currently have an element selected, select the element you wish to move. If you already have 1 or more elements selected continue to step 3.
- Click to place the reference point that you would like to perform the move from. This can be anywhere on the selected element(s), other elements, or somewhere on the active level.
- Click to place the point that you would like to perform the move to. Again, this can be anywhere on the selected element(s), other elements, or somewhere on the active level.
Moving a specified distance
While performing a move you will see a reference line appear between the reference point and the point being move to. The input that shows on the reference line allows you to specify the exact distance you would like to move the element.
Enter the distance you would like to move and then press
Enter
or click to commit the value.Copying while moving
While in the move tool, you will see a
Copy
checkbox appear in the contextual menu. Click the checkbox or use shortcut Spacebar
to toggle copying. If the checkbox is enabled then you will be able to create multiple copies of the selected object(s) via the move tool. You can also copy elements by holding
Option
and clicking + dragging the element.
