There are 2 ways that units are counted in Arcol:

  1. Auto → Based on the unit mix and unit size per area type.
  2. Manual → Based on the number of sketch faces assigned each area type.

Unit count mode can be toggled in the Metrics settings.

Efficiency - Auto mode

Efficiency is used to account for cores and corridors in auto mode. The efficiency input is found at the top of the Edit building function menu.

Unit Mix - Auto mode

Unit mix determines how much of each area type is in your building.

The unit mix input shows beside the Area Type name in the Area Types section of the Edit building function menu. The total for all area type percentages must equal 100% for units to be calculated correctly.

Unit Size - Auto mode

The unit size input is found in the Create area type and Edit area type menus.

Setting which area types show in the Units section

You may not want to count all area types (for example, you likely don’t care about counts for cores and corridors).

To set which area types are counted:

  1. Hover on the Units section of the metrics sidebar and click the settings button that appears.
