The pen tool may be used to create custom shapes, but parametric elements like rectangle and ellipse can be helpful for quick editing.

Creating a rectangle

To create a rectangle:

  1. While on a board, click the rectangle button in the toolbar. If the rectangle tool is not currently active in the button, click the down arrow beside the button and select Rectangle from the dropdown. Alternatively you can use shortcut R.
  2. Click and drag on the canvas to create the rectangle. Hold Shift while dragging if you want to create a square.

Creating an ellipse

To create an ellipse:

  1. While on a board, click the ellipse button in the toolbar. If the ellipse tool is not currently active in the button, click the down arrow beside the button and select Ellipse from the dropdown. Alternatively you can use shortcut O.
  2. Click and drag on the canvas to create the ellipse. Hold Shift while dragging if you want to create a circle.
